Historical background of biological anthropology, classification of primates, evolutionary biology of the primates, principles of normal growth and variability. Human genetic variability, serological polymorphism. Environmental effects on growth, seasonality, disease and secular trends. Ecological factors affecting growth in Nigerian communities. Assessment of growth and body composition by anthropometry and more recent techniques in body composition analysis, multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry and anthroposophy.
