Bingham University Anupa Local Chapter Inaugurated ,68 New Members Inducted

The Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) has recently inaugurated Bingham University Chapter, installed a Caretaker Committee and inducted 68 new members in to the professional body for administrators at the Senate Chamber of the University.
The ceremony had staff members of Registry department turn up in their numbers to be inducted.
Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba pointed out that he was delighted with the work the association was doing. He indicated that as a professional body certain values such as accountability, confidentiality and professionalism are parts of the ethics of their operations.
He enjoined staff of the Registry not to work only to earn a living, but to make impact and add value to the university community. He further intimated them to take advantage of the opportunity provided by ANUPA.
In his remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal welcomed and commended the President of ANUPA, Dr. Victor Mkuma Bem and his team for finding time to come for the induction out of their very tight schedules. He also appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba for the tremendous support to the Registry department.
He reminded the Registry staff to take the occasion seriously by seeing themselves as critical stakeholders for the smooth functioning of the university by applying best practices in their work schedules that will enhances edge-cutting administrative service delivery .
He revealed that the Registry is essentially a service center, servicing not only statutory bodies of the university such as Council, Senate, Convocation, Congregation but also the University Community and the general public. He stated that it has become imperative in this modern and competitive world for every staff member of the Registry to be trained and be retrained to be the best version they can be.
He emphasized that the University Community is by nature a highly critical and meticulous community. Registry staff must therefore leave no one in doubt as to the reliability of administrative output they provide. He called on Registry staff to actively engage with viable professional platforms such as ANUPA to leverage on their training programmes for efficiency in the.work place and to adapt to the fast-changing pace of technology to support ease of doing business which has become a major area of focus for universities the world over.
In a paper delivered by the National President of ANUPA, Dr. Victor M. Bem, themed, “Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators As An Essential Tool For Administrative Efficiency In Nigerian Universities”.The President of ANUPA in his presentation, ceased the opportunity to commend the Registrar, Mr Misal and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayuba for taking bold steps to enhance administrative efficiency in the university.
He pointed out that in operational structure of Nigerian University, apart from the Vice Chancellor who drives the institution, the position of the Registrar is eminent since he or she is the administrative head and the face of the University. He said, “…the Registrar is the custodian of the university's seal and records of all staff and students, serves as Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation and other statutory organs of the University. The Registrar is also represented in the Colleges/Faculties, Academic and Functional Departments and Units by Professional administrators”.
Dr. Bem intimated participant that the success of the Registrar in guiding university administration aright, to attain set objectives, is largely dependent on the efficiency of the professional administrators, which brings to the fore the inevitability of ANUPA's existence and its activities.
He highlighted the responsibilities of the association to include: Promoting and advancing professional skills, knowledge and best administrative practices of members through regular trainings, workshops, seminars and general assemblies; Providing Opportunities for Networking with over 5000 Nigerian University Professional Administrators through conferences, regional activities and Entrenching Ethical Conduct and Professionalism through mentoring and counselling.
The President pointed out obstacles that mitigates against ANUPA to be issues of funding, non-existence of synergy and untrainable staff.
In conclusion, the National President stated that the success of universities in achieving set goals is adjudged and largely dependent on the efficiency of the Registrars and by extension the professional administrators. He tasked the new chapter of ANUPA in Bingham University to enhance best administrative practices in the University.
The high point of the occasion was the inauguration of Bingham University Chapter of ANUPA, installation of Caretaker Committee with Senior Deputy Registrar, Mr. Raphael Ajiya as Chairman and Mr Samson Oboshi , a Senior Assistant Registrar as Secretary of the Chapter and induction of 68 new members.
