Bingham University Hosts A Delegation From The United States Of America Embassy A Delegation From The American Embassy In Nigeria Recently Paid A Visit To The University To Seek Possible Areas Of Collaboration.

The leader of the delegation, Mr. Peter Burba, expressed their delight  being at the university following an invitation from the Dean of Communication and Media Studies, Assoc Prof Desmond Okocha, regarding a potential partnership. He remarked that he was impressed with the wealth of information available on the university’s website, noting that the information are up to date. He mentioned discussions about potential partnerships in areas such as English, Gender Studies, ICT and Journalism, among others. Additionally, he stated that the Embassy is open to speaker exchange programmes where speakers from the USA can lecture in the university for a short period. 

Mr. Burba also expressed admiration for the number of medical doctors the university has so far produced, expressing hope that the university continues to track them where ever they find themselves. He concluded by expressing gratitude to the university for the warm reception and look forward to partnering with the university.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musa Dankyau, appreciated the team for the visit. He highlighted several programs pioneered by the university in the country, such as Election Management, Crowd Control, Cyber Security, and Digital Forensics, among others. In addition, he  stated the university has 15 faculties. He mentioned that some of the university’s long-term strategic plans have been surpassed, and the current enrollment exceeds 8,000 students.

 

Prof. Dankyau reiterated the Vice-Chancellor's commitment to creating a green and sustainable environment, emphasizing the use of alternative power supplies instead of diesel engines as the main energy source. He also emphasized the university's focus on value addition and increased visibility through initiatives such as public lectures and workshops like the recently concluded workshops on the benefits of institutional repositories and grants management.

 

Additionally, Prof. Dankyau noted that the university's medical college is well-subscribed. Medical students undergo their clinical training in Jos and rural postings in a community in Kagoro, Kaduna State. He mentioned that the Alumni Association maintains a database of all medical doctors, and they regularly keep in touch as many of them still require documentation from the university. He added that the university is open and committed to partnerships and collaborations in all areas.
