Vice-Chancellor Visits Nigerian Building And Road Research Institute For A Strategic Partnership Meeting

The Vice-Chancellor Prof Haruna Kuje Ayuba and top management team of the university have paid a visit to the DG/CEO of Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) for a strategic meeting.

 

 Prof. Ayuba expressed deep appreciation to the Director-General and CEO of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Prof. Samson Duna, and his management team for hosting the university’s management despite the national protest.

 

Prof. Ayuba commended  the DG for his focused leadership and the significant accomplishments at NBRRI under his tenure. He highlighted the institute’s innovative work, such as converting plastic waste into road materials and advancements in laboratory services and environmental sustainability. He emphasized the potential for mutual benefits from the collaboration between Bingham University and NBRRI, particularly in fields like architecture, environmental management, and road research. 

Prof. Ayuba stated that Bingham University established over 19 years ago offers 40 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate programs across 15 faculties, including Architecture and Environmental Management.

 

The Vice-Chancellor noted the strategic importance of NBRRI’s work and expressed a desire for deeper collaboration, particularly in areas where the interests of the two institutions align, such as building materials and road construction technology. He also extended an invitation for NBRRI to assist the university with infrastructure development, including the construction of roads and studio facilities within the architecture faculty. Prof. Ayuba shared that the partnership conversation which began three years ago has already seen some of Bingham’s students benefiting from internships at NBRRI. He expressed hope that this visit would further solidify those initial discussions into actionable collaborations.

 

In response, Prof. Samson Duna acknowledged the presence of Bingham University’s staff and emphasized NBRRI’s commitment to supporting educational institutions through research and infrastructure development. He assured that NBRRI is open to hosting more students for industrial training and collaborating on research projects.

 

Prof. Duna detailed NBRRI’s extensive research capabilities and infrastructure, including its laboratories and training facilities, and reiterated the institute’s readiness to fund relevant research projects 100%. He highlighted the success of NBRRI’s technologies, such as compressed earth blocks and alternative construction materials, and their economic potential impact on reducing construction costs in Nigeria.

The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of commitment to advancing the collaboration, and a technical committee was set up to oversee this effort. 

The meeting which lasted about an hour came to an exciting conclusion with exchange of souvenirs between the Chief Executive Officers of the two institutions.

 

Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor to the visit were the Registrar, Mr.Daburi Misal,Dean of Environmental Sciences, Prof.Joe Gandu,Director,Linkages and Transnational Education,Miss Monica Ankeli and HoD,Environmental Management, Dr.Goma.
