Prof. Isabel Lucas Of Liverpool School Of Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom Paid Courtesy Visit To Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, Seeks Areas For Further Research Collaborations

Pro-Chancellor for Education, Prof. Isabel Lucas of Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), United Kingdom has paid courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba in his office at Karu campus of the University.

 

Prof. Isabel Lucas expressed her delight in visiting the university and exploring opportunities for academic collaboration. She stated that the purpose of her visit was to seek for further areas of collaborations between the two universities, having successfully enjoyed long-standing research relationship in Tuberculosis for some years now. 

 

Prof. Isabel stated that her visit was part of the ongoing discussions with Bingham University and its Department of Community Medicine and Primary Health Care regarding its postgraduate Master’s programme in Public Health. She explained that the proposed collaboration aligns with the National Universities Commission (NUC) guidelines on Transnational Education (TNE) in Nigeria. Prof. Isabel emphasized that Transnational Education facilitates the cross-border exchange of people, programmes, knowledge, ideas, projects, and services, fostering global educational collaboration that LSTM seeks to leverage.

 

Affirming her statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba pointed out that since assumption of duty as Vice-Chancellor; the research collaboration on Tuberculosis between the two institutions has been cordial and yielding results.  He stated that the Director of Zankli Research Centre, Dr. John Bimba has continued to engage local and international collaborators in research activities which were yielding grants to the university. 

 

The Vice-Chancellor assured Prof. Lucas of his willingness to continue to partner with LSTM on research activities that is aimed at enhancing societal well-being.
