Bingham University Commissions Law Library Donated By The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commissions (Nuprc) In Karu Campus.

Bingham University commissions Faculty of Law Library building donated  by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) at  Karu Campus, in what the institution described as a major boost to legal education.

 

The new facility was built by the NUPRC as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative and is expected to strengthen research, innovation and training for law students and staff.

 

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor of Bingham University, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, praised the Commission for its support, noting that the project would enhance access to modern learning resources and improve the quality of legal training.

The Vice Chancellor added that the facility would also ease the pressure on existing library resources and provide a conducive environment for research. He said the project came at a time when Nigerian universities were under pressure to raise academic standards in order to compete globally.

 

“With this dedicated library, our students will be better equipped to meet the challenges of a changing legal landscape. It will also support our lecturers in producing high-quality research that addresses contemporary legal and governance issues in Nigeria,” he said.

 

Representing the NUPRC Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, the Assistant Director of Contract and Procurement, Engr. Musiliu Odofin, said the gesture was part of the Commission’s corporate social responsibility project aimed at creating lasting impact through knowledge development.

 

Engr. Odofin described the facility as more than a physical structure, calling it “a space for learning, research, critical thinking, and innovation” for young legal scholars who would shape Nigeria’s governance, policy and justice system in years to come.

 

He stressed the importance of robust legal education to the oil and gas sector and the broader society, noting that lawyers play a pivotal role in defending rights, resolving conflicts and upholding the rule of law.

 

The Dean Faculty of Law, Prof. Magdalene Dura, thanked the Vice Chancellor for supporting the vision of establishing a dedicated law library and commended NUPRC for completing the project in less than a year. She noted that the facility is not only crucial to students’ academic development but would also serve as an important asset for accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

 

Prof. Dura described the library as fit for purpose and a vital space for research, learning and innovation. 

 

The Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal, in his remarks lauded the  NUPRC for enhancing not just the infrastracture landscape of the University but  improving on the overall capacity of the university to provide access to sound legal education to Nigeria’s teeming youth population. He prayed for the Commission’s continued success and impact in touching more lives through its Corporate Social Responsibility projects.
