Bingham University Holds Two-Day Media Training Workshop On Modern Journalism Practices

Published on: Dec 1st, 2025

The workshop, organized by the Bingham University Consultancy Services Limited, brought together expert facilitators, administrators, and participants from within and outside the institution.

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, described the training as timely and essential in today’s fast-paced information ecosystem. He noted that while digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are reshaping the media landscape, the print media continues to play a vital role in shaping public opinion, promoting transparency, and safeguarding democratic values.

Professor Ayuba emphasized that AI offers significant opportunities in news gathering and dissemination but also raises critical ethical concerns regarding accuracy, bias, and responsible usage. He urged journalists to equip themselves with the knowledge required to deploy technological tools ethically and professionally.

He commended the Consultancy Services for spearheading the initiative, noting that such capacity-building efforts are crucial for nurturing a new generation of media practitioners capable of navigating modern journalism with competence and integrity.

The participants were engaged in sessions on news writing and editing for print media, multimedia storytelling, fact-checking techniques, the use of AI in journalism, and best practices in ethical reporting.

The highlights of the two-day training included the formal presentation of certificates to participants by the Bingham University Consultancy Services, as well as a group photograph session that captured the collective spirit of learning, collaboration, and professional development that defined the workshop.

The event concluded with renewed commitments from participants to uphold responsible journalism and contribute positively to the evolving media landscape.
