Biography

Uju Dorathy Ejike-Iliemene (PhD), a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, obtained a B.Sc from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto in 2004, both M.Sc and PhD in Biochemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2011 and 2016 respectively. I am a member of International Deans' Course (IDC) 2023/24 Cohort; Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB); American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutic (ASPET); a fellow of Win Institute for Gender Studies. I have won both national and international grants and awards which includes;  Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Germany Academic Exchange grant for DIES International Dean’s Course for Africa 2023/2024, Germany, 2023/24; Masterclass for women in higher education leadership in Africa (grant), Istanbul, Turkey, 2022; Bingham University Vice Chancellor’s Excellent Service Award, 2022; TETFUND research grant award under the TETFund National Research Fund (NRF) Intervention, 2020; Bingham University Vice Chancellor’s research grant award, 2019; African Scientific Peer-review Publication and Grant Writing grant award ( Morocco, 2015), 1st TReND -Nigeria Molecular Biology Workshop at Bingham University Nigeria (2017), Certificate of merits and letters of recommendation.

I am Reader, was the first female Head of Biochemistry Department, and first female Dean of Faculty of Science & Technology Bingham University 2020 to date

I have performed and still performing some administrative function which includes: member, council committee on interview of principal officers, committee on research fair/exhibition, committee on examination misconduct, committee on B.Sc students poor performance, committee on amnesty program, committee on staff promotion.

I have contributed to knowledge in the area of plants antioxidant potentials, natural products cancer prevention, and have also published over 20 research articles and book chapters in various peer reviewed journals/publishers and a reviewer of  Asian Journal of Medicine and Health, Journal of Functional Food, as well as few other journals.

To prepare the generation of scientists, I have mentored some postgraduate students, including PhD candidates. I have co-published with my mentor and mentees, earning 173 citations and h-index of 7.
