Biography

 

Dr. Michael Adeleye is an Associate Professor and former Head of the Department of Physics at Bingham University. He holds a doctorate degree in Nuclear Physics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. He has a wealth of professional experience that spans over three decades teaching at the University and three of the most outstanding high schools in Nigeria and South Africa (Bingham University, Adesoye College, Offa; Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja and African Leadership Academy, Johannesburg). Dr. Adeleye has presented papers at many conferences around the world and published numerous peer-reviewed papers in journals. He is a Certified Nuclear Security Professional (CNSP), a Registered Teacher, an approved Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Examiner, a Science Education Specialist, an alumnus of the prestigious World Institute of Nuclear Security (WINS), Vienna, Austria, and member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (MNIP) and five other professional bodies. He has also served as the Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the University Consultancy Services, and in many University Committees as a member or Chairman. Dr. Adeleye is a recipient of the St. Ignatius of Loyola Service Award for outstanding contribution to Jesuit Education in Nigeria from 1998 to 2006 and the African Leadership Academy Service Award for the role played in shaping ALA and developing Africa’s future leaders between 2009 and 2012. He was honoured to have been appointed to serve on the Governing Council of Faith Academy, Goshen, Abuja from 2019 to 2023 and on the Academic Advisory Board of the Crescent Pearl Leadership Academy, Abuja from 2020 to 2021.

  • • The Physics and the applications of Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) using Miniature Neutron Source Reactors (MNSRs) and High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector spectrometers.
  • • Efficiency Calibration of Semiconductor Spectrometers and their applications in Gamma-and X-Ray Spectrometry.
  • • Investigating environmental pollution especially by industrial effluents from textile and leather industries.
  • • Assessing the impact of the use of Java Applets, java-generated animations in deepening students’ conceptual knowledge of Physics.
  • • Integration of ICT in education especially in the design and delivery of innovative and enriching curriculum and computerisation of school records at all tiers.
