Bingham University Holds 5Th Combined Convocation, Graduates 2,217 As 41 Bag Doctor 0F Philosoph Degrees And 57 Bag First Class Degrees In Various Disciplines

Bingham University holds 5th Combined Convocation Ceremony with 41 graduates bagging Doctor of Philosophy degrees and 57 graduates bagging first class degrees.The week long program which began on Sunday 3rd with a commemorative church service culminated with the convocation ceremony and investiture of Emeritus Professor on Saturday 9th of November 2024.
The university convoked a total of 1,602 undergraduate programmes for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions with a total of 57 graduates bagging first class degrees while 615 obtained various postgraduate qualifications with 41 obtaining Doctor of Philosophy degrees (PhD) .
These notable achievements were made known in the welcome address of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba who was elated with the progress the university was making in both academic and infrastructure output. He expressed his deep appreciation to various organs of the University for working assiduously in making the University a beacon of hope for many Nigerians.
Enumerating further various notable achievements attained in recent times, the Vice-Chancellor stated that Bingham University has continued to win various research grants both locally and internationally through the dedication and commitment of researchers in the university, leading to solutions to societal l problems, full accreditation of academic programmes by regulatory bodies, infrastructure improvement, such as laboratories expansion, construction of additional hostels, power supply and solarization of facilities amongst various achievements recorded.
Prof. Ayuba stated that despite the successes recorded, more is desired particularly in the area of infrastructural development, as the university continues to witness high subscriptions of its programmes on a yearly basis by admission seekers.
Various prizes were awarded to graduands that distinguished themselves in character and learning. The occasion also witnessed the investiture of Bingham University’s first Emeritus Professor, Professor Alhassan Mela Yakubu for his invaluable contributions to academic excellence, mentorship, research and community impact spanning over 30 years as a Professor.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, and Secretary General of Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU), Prof. Haruna Andrew FNAL, FLAN in his address, commended graduands for attaining a significant milestone in their academic journey. He attributed their rising profile to their rigorous at Bingham University.
He added that the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance is worth celebrating.
The Special Guest of Honour, Gen.(rtd) Martin Luther Agwai (CFR) was pleased with the University for its demonstration of academic excellence and for infrastructural development in the span of 19 years of its existence. He commended the Governing Council and the Chairman Board of Trustees and President of ECWA Worldwide for the great role they are playing in raising the standard of the University.
He acknowledged the hard work and resilience of the graduands and stated that their achievements are worth celebrating as evidenced from the many who came to share in the joy of their graduation. He encouraged the graduands to overcome challenges, embrace opportunities, and transform dreams into reality with the values cultivated at the University as they embark on the next chapters of their lives.
Also sharing in the joy of the Convocation Ceremony, the Chairman of Board of Trustees and President of ECWA worldwide, Rev. (Dr) Job Ayuba Bagat Mallam affirmed the hope that lies ahead of the graduands which if sustained will infiltrate communities and a larger society with edge cutting solutions.
The Chairman said “as you move up the ladder in your career, remember that your ability to lead, as well as your personality, attitude, behaviors, and interpersonal skills, will ultimately determine your level of success. I, therefore, implore you to constantly strive to enhance the hard and soft skills you have acquired while here in Bingham University. This will set you apart as leaders in your chosen careers and will help you make the much-needed impact in the workplace”.
He assured the graduands of the board’s willingness to closely follow their progress and achievements in the successes that lies ahead and enjoined them to stay connected with their Alma Mater, share field experiences to inspire and give hope for the sustainable future.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of prizes and award of first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, masters, doctor of philosophy degrees and first of its kind, investiture of Prof. Yakubu Mela Alhassan with Emeritus Professorship.
The event was witnessed by a representative of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, many Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities and Chief Executive Officers of organizations, Royal fathers and captains of industries as well as parents and well-wishers who shared in the joy of the Convocation Ceremony and presented their goodwill messages to the Vice-Chancellor.
