Bingham University Host Ican Accreditation Team

The accreditation team from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) recently visited the University for re-accreditation of the Accounting programme following the expiration of the 5years accreditation period.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor William B. Qurix OFR, while receiving the accreditation team appreciated the contributions of the Institute to the University, saying Bingham University continues to partner with Professional institutes in Nigeria so that students can be properly groomed before they graduate. He added that he was exceptionally proud of the Accounting Department as they have immensely improved over the years by providing the needed enabling environment conducive for students learning and development.
He added that their guidance will be highly appreciated and that the relationship between the University and the Institute will continue to thrive.
Earlier, Prof Uche Uwaleke,said he was elated, noting great improvements in the departments since the last visit. He added that the main purpose of the visit was to strengthen the programme and to ensure that products of the University can compete globally. He said that students from accredited institutions derive many benefits from the Institute, such as exemption from some stages of the professional examinations when they desire to be chattered Accountants.
Prof Uwaleke said that they were in the University to check key things such as the Library and Account laboratory, staffing, Physical Facilities and Academic Content.
In his final remarks, he stated that the Institute has built lecture theatres and other facilities in several University in Nigeria and he will ensure that Bingham University also enjoys such laudable projects. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Management staff for the hospitality they have so far enjoyed.
In attendance at the meeting were the University Librarian; Dr. Dan Ajibili, Director of Academic Planning; Prof Nuhu Gado, Dean of Administration; Dr. Christy Zwingina, Head of Department; Dr. Isaac Lambe, and Director of Public Affairs; Mr. Daburi Misal.
