Bingham University Inducts 81 Doctors Into The Medical Profession

It was yet another time of great joy for the graduates, family and friends, and staff as Bingham University Inducted 81Medical Doctors into the medical profession.
In his remark, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. W B Qurix, OFR ably represented by the Provost , College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences expressed his thanks to the Faculty for grooming and mentoring the new doctors into becoming who they are today. He also appreciated the graduates for conducting themselves in a good manner. Prof Qurix expressed thanks to God for witnessing his last Induction ceremony as the Vice Chancellor as he takes a bow out of office come January 8, 2024.
The Vice Chancellor charged the new doctors to continue to make the university proud as previous sets have done and are still doing.
The Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees and ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, represented by the ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe expressed his confidence in the ability of each of the inductees to be great, owing to the quality of the Lecturers they learned from.
He challenged the inductees to seek more knowledge at all times. He emphasized that challenges will come but with them comes growth opportunities.
The Medical Elder for the event,a renowned Gastroenterologist, Prof. Abraham Orkurga Malu (OON) who shared from his wealth of experience, assured them that the practice of Medicine is exciting hence the need to keep abreast with the latest happenings in the profession.
He appealed to them to maintain a cordial relationship with their colleagues and to always seek assistance and support from experienced hands.
Speaking further, the Medical Elder advised the Inductees to be courteous, kind, respectful, and loving to patients. “Stand your ground to do what is right; be good stewards of your profession and maintain good ethical standards ” he added.
The highpoint of the occasion was the administration of oath by the Registrar Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), represented by Dr. Abdu Enejo (Assistant Registrar- Professional Discipline), and the recognition of students with distinctions .
Dr. Onoja Umolaojo Omonu was recognized for the following 7 awards:
Professor Alhassan Mela Yakubu prize for overall best graduating medical student ,
ECWA Women Fellowship International Prize for best graduating female student in Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
Distinction in Biochemistry,
Distinction in Physiology,
Distinction in Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
Distinction in Paediatrics and
Distinction in Surgery.
Others recognized for distinction in Community Medicine & PHC were Dr. Abutu Ojima Sharon and Dr. Dangana Joshua .
With this induction, the College of Medicine has so far produced over 500 medical doctors .
