The Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University, Karu, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, an academic renowned for  excellence celebrated his 60th birthday on Monday, August 17, 2026, with the launch of his autobiography.  

In his remarks, Prof. Ayuba expressed gratitude to God for His enduring mercies and goodness. He revealed that in his 60 years journey, God has sustained and provided for him through every challenge faced. He welcomed and appreciated the distinguished guests who honoured the occasion.

Born on August 17, 1966, Prof. Ayuba’s early years were shaped by the quiet aspirations of a typical Nigerian home. His academic journey took him to Bayero University, Kano, where he earned a B.Sc in Geography in 1989. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan for an M.Sc in 1992 and a Ph.D in 1998, specializing in Bio-geography and Environmental science.  His career began as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Maiduguri and he rose to full Professorship in 2007. He later served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, before his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University. 

He is a member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers, Nigerian Environmental Society, Nigerian Environmental Study/Action Team, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Prof. Ayuba has made significant contributions to climate change research, environmental management, and sustainable development.  

Delivering the keynote address, Chairman of the occasion, Elder Samson Ameh Opaluwah, urged Prof. Ayuba to draw fresh strength from God in this new decade.  He revealed that lasting strength does not come from intellectual brilliance, professional attainment or high office alone, but from continually waiting upon the Lord.  He described the memoir as an apt testimony of the place of God in his heart.

“Like the eagle, may you rise above distractions, gain clearer vision to discern what truly matters, and wisdom to focus on assignments of enduring value.” Elder Opaluwah also offered six counsel points to guide the celebrant’s next phase of life and service.

Earlier, Rev. Dr. Joseph Dyaji delivered a sermon titled “God Remembered Me”, drawing from Psalm 136:1 and 23. He said the theme reflects God’s mercies, kindness and faithfulness as captured in Prof. Ayuba’s testimonies and autobiography.  He stated that in an era where success is often credited to personal effort or networking, Professor Ayuba’s testimony returns the narrative to its rightful source, God.

He admonished guests to acknowledge God’s hand in their own lives and to learn from the celebrant’s example.

The event featured goodwill messages, prayers, thanksgiving, and the unveiling of the autobiography, a chronicle of Prof. Ayuba’s journey in scholarship, leadership, and faith.

Dignitaries present included academics, church leaders, politicians, family, friends, and well-wishers who came to honour man of grace. 

Congratulations to Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba on 60 years of grace, service and excellence.
