
Governing Council Approves Promotion Of 7 Professors And 11 Others To Associate Professors

The Governing Council at its 68th Regular meeting held on the 20th of March, 2025 approved the promotion of seven academic staff to the rank of full Professors and eleven others to Associate Professors.
The Associate Professors promoted to full Professors include Prosper Ifeanacho Okonkwo of the Department of Community Medicine and Primary Heath Care promoted to Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Associate Professor Oluwagbenga Adebayo Adeola of the Department Medicine Microbiology and Parasitology to Professor of Virus Evolution and Public Health Virology, Associate Professor Joy Adeyinka Rotkangmwa Shuaibu of the Department of Family Medicine to Professor of Family Medicine, Associate Professor Adenike Oluwayemisi Jimoh of the Department of Paediatrics to Professor of Paediatric Neurology.
Others are Associate Professor Danjuma Onu Ajibili of the Department of Library and Information Science to Professor of Library and Information Science, Associate Professor Michael Oluwasanmi Adeleye of the Department of Physics to Professor of Experimental and Applied Nuclear Physics and Associate Professor John Alfa of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology to Professor of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology.
Those promoted to Associate Professors include Dr. Adikpe Emmanuel Edugbe, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Gabriel Oluwabunmi Anyanwu, Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Okwo Jairus Ije, Department of Political Science, Dr. Robert Sabo, Department of Political Science, Dr. Virginia Kassah, Department of Business Administration, Dr. Tanko Titus Auta, Department of Nursing Sciences, Dr. Richard Akujeni , Department of Mass Communication , Dr. Mercy Mlumum Tartsea- Anshase, Department of Film and Multimedia Studies, Dr. Cordelia Chinwe Nwogbo- Egwu, Department of International Law and Jurisprudence.
Others are Dr. Francis Kolawole Ojo, Department of Chemical Sciences and Dr. John Samson Bimba, Department of Community Medicine and Primary Health Care.
Prof. Andrew Haruna, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, extended his congratulations to all staff who were promoted and charged them to do more.
