Tribute To Late Prof. Luis Cuevas

Published on: Jan 12th, 2023

Bingham University Community is deeply saddened over the demise of Professor Luis Cuevas of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), UK, who died on the 2nd of January 2023.

Until his death, he was a great friend, an ally of Bingham University and was instrumental to the establishment of the Zankli Research Centre alongside the Late Prof. Lovett Lawson in 2015. Since the establishment of the Centre, Prof Luis continued to strengthen the collaboration between the University and LSTM which led to renewing of the Memoranda of Understanding between the two institutions.

He was a mentor to many, both in the University and in the TB Community in Nigeria spearheading better diagnostics to people with TB and other infectious diseases.

He was always willing to support new ideas as seen in of many the research works in epidemiology and the diagnosis of infectious diseases particularly Tuberculosis.

He will be sorely missed by the University Community and all that were impacted by his works all over the world.
Our deepest sympathy to LSTM family and may God console his immediate family on this great loss.
