
United Nations Association Of Nigeria (Unan), Launches Abuja Branch At Bingham University, Inducts 37 New Members

The United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNAN) Abuja branch was recently inaugurated at Bingham University, Karu, with 37 new members inducted into the association. UNAN aims to promote United Nations ideals, engage young Nigerians and civil society groups in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.
In a goodwill message, Mrs. Bolanle Olumekor, representing the Director of the United Nations Information Centre, Nigeria, acknowledged UNAN's role in improving lives through community impact programs. She encouraged young Nigerians to participate, collaborate, and innovate to drive UN values and goals.
Prof. Oluremi Olutimo, UNAN National President, congratulated the inductees and emphasized the importance of living purposefully, caring, and serving humanity. He stated that the association provides equal opportunity to all deserving persons, particularly at the grassroot level and highlighted opportunities and privileges available in the association and its commitment to achieving SDGs.
Stating the operation of UNAN activities for past decades, Associate Prof. Desmond Okocha, appointed Coordinator of the Abuja branch, expressed delight and commended UNAN for the geographical spread of its activities and advancement of UN values and SDGs goals.
The Secretary General, Dr. Omopetu Afanu, administered the induction and oath-taking, charging new members to operate within the association's guiding principles.
The highlights at the ceremony were the appointments of 3-man committee and handing over of UN flag to the Coordinator, Associate Professor Desmond Okocha, sealing the take-off of Abuja branch.
