Vice-Chancellor Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba Receives Parastology &Public Health Society Of Nigeria

Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University in company of the principal officers, met with the delegation of the Parasitology & Public Health Society of Nigeria  who gave the Vice-Chancellor updates concerning their work in the fight to combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).

 

Prof. Gideon A. Amuga, leading the delegation, said their visit served two purposes: celebrating World NTD Day and seeking collaboration with Bingham University. He highlighted the ongoing struggle against these often-overlooked diseases, despite government efforts in tropical regions. He emphasized the World Health Organization's (WHO) goal of eliminating 23 NTDs, noting the successful eradication of Guinea worm as an example.

Prof. Amuga elaborated on the society's activities, including school sensitization programs, awareness campaigns, and community mobilization efforts. He expressed their hope for Bingham University's participation in upcoming conferences and seminars.

 

Warmly welcoming the delegation, Prof. Ayuba commended their dedication to tackling NTDs. He acknowledged the role environmental factors and personal hygiene play in disease transmission, stressing the importance of raising awareness about these aspects. He pledged Bingham University's support to the society's cause.

Wrapping up the meeting, the University Registrar,Dr Mrs Esther Dyaji, expressed gratitude for the  visit and reiterated the University's openness to future collaborations.

 

The high point of the visit was presentation of Souvenirs by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. H.K. Ayuba to the leader of the delegation.
