Bangladesh High Commissioner Visits Bingham University, Seeks Collaborations

The High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Masudur Rahman, in company of the First Secretary of the High Commission, Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman recently paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor.
The High Commissioner was received by members of management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. W. B. Qurix, OFR.
In his remarks, the High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the management for receiving him and his First Secretary despite the short notice.
He noted that Nigeria and Bangladesh had similar histories in their economic, political and social struggles.
Mr. Rahman stated that he was impressed with the giant strides the university was making and was therefore in the university to seek collaborations in the areas of faculty exchange as well as joint hosting of public lectures.
According to the High Commissioners, his country has been making tremendous progress in its economy with a growth rate of 5.8%. He also said his country was making giant strides in the area of renewable energy with an installed capacity of over 20,000 megawatts. Mr. Rahman, stated that he was looking forward to the Vice-Chancellor’s visit to the High Commission in Abuja so as to share more ideas and views on the way forward.
The Vice-Chancellor, in his remarks, appreciated the High Commissioner for reaching out to his management and for his interest in Bingham University.
He said, “Indeed Nigeria and Bangladesh had similar histories in their struggles to Nationhood.” Prof. Qurix stated that he was particularly impressed with the economic growth of Bangladesh at 5.8%.
The Vice-Chancellor also stated that he was equally impressed with the giant strides Bangladesh had made in the area of renewable energy.

Prof. Qurix welcomed the idea of collaborations with the Bangladesh High Commission on areas of mutual benefits as proposed by the High Commissioner.
