
Bingham University Inducts 80 New Medical Doctors

Bingham University inducts 80 new Medical Doctors in the recently organized induction and oath-taking ceremony by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) which took place at the ECWA Headquarters Conference Centre,Jos,the capital of Plateau State. The induction of the 2017/2018 set, makes the 13th set in the series, bringing the total number so far produced by the university to Seven Hundred and Eleven (711) medical doctors.
In his address, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Bingham University, and ECWA President worldwide, Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat expressed great pleasure for the exciting and transformative journey endured by the inductees during their training period. He reminded the new Doctors that the ceremony marks a lifelong commitment to service and continuos learning.
He encouraged them to embrace their colleagues in the profession to contribute and add meaningfully to the profession and society at large. He prompted them to always reflect on the values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and dedication, assuring them that the virtues will help them navigate the complexities of medical practice.
Earlier in his speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor, Haruna Kuje Ayuba expressed delight for a great milestone in the history of the University. He congratulated the new Medical Doctors for making it to the finish line and expressed joy for filling the manpower gap in the medical profession in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor reminded the new Doctors to work with the highest sense of professionalism and ethical standards, adhere strictly to the codes and ethics of the profession.
He further intimated the new Doctors to remember the spiritual and academic knowledge and skills acquired for self-reliance that will help them navigate through hostile environment, emphasizing further on the need to be ambassadors of Christ and Bingham University.
He charged them to be concerned for the total man, spirit, soul and body, be compassionate and patient with patients, remain prayerful, available and accessible as duty demands. Prof. Ayuba Urged them to continue to avail themselves to mentoring by Senior Doctors in the profession.
The Vice-Chancellor went further to appreciate the ECWA President, ECWA Executive, Board of Trustees, Governing Council and Senate for unflinching support to the University.

In his remarks, the Medical Elder, Prof. Jeremiah Kutak Aboi Madaki charged the new Doctors to come to terms with the realities of the oath they have taken which involves positive transformation for society and medicine, responsibility, understanding professionalism and ethics, embrace community, care and team concept, having a long-term perspective and preparedness to lead.
The Provost College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Haroun Omeiza Isah congratulated the inductees and appreciated the Professors and Lecturers for their tireless efforts in training of the inductees.
He charged the new Doctors to adhere to ethics of the profession always. He appreciated their resilience during their training years and exceptional performance.
The Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) Dr. Fatima Kyari represented by the Deputy Registrar, MDCN, Dr. Victor Benrose. Charged the new Doctors to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of the country. He encouraged them to stay in the country to serve . He informed that the Council was concerned about their welfare as provisions are been made to ensure that the doctors are adequately taken care of. He maintained that to practice, they must adhere to rules and regulations governing medical profession.
The new Doctors were administered the hippocratic oath by the Deputy Registrar of MDCN, Dr. Ben rose.
Speaking on behalf of new Doctors, Dr. Eseigbe Oselumese thanked and appreciated their Lecturers and Mentors and parents for their tremendous and unflinching support during their training years.
He appreciated and commended the 2017/2018 set for their resilience during their training years.

He encouraged them to mainta the team spirit, checking and encouraging one another as they launch into other spheres of their lives.
The colourful event rounded up with the Provost, Prof. Haroun Omeiza Isah presenting on behalf of College Academic Board 7 distinguished graduands who performed exceptionally well in various aspects of Medicine to the audience for recognition.
