Vice-Chancellor Pays Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (Nuc) Courtesy Visit

The  Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba alongside his management team recently paid a courtesy visit to the acting Executive Secretary of  the National Universities Commission (NUC) Mr. Chris J. Maiyaki.

 

In his welcome remarks, the Executive Secretary, Mr. Maiyaki  congratulated the    Vice-Chancellor , Prof. Ayuba for emerging as the 5th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University after a keen contest by many candidates for the position .  He commended the good leadership provided by the Governing  Council that paved the way for a smooth transition which he described as transparent.    The Executive Secretary stated that Bingham University has come a long way to where it is today and urged the new Vice-Chancellor to sustain the strides attained by his immediate predecessor, Prof W.B Qurix. He stated that the university has continued to wax stronger in   the area of academic content and expansion, increase in students’ enrollment, infrastructural development, internal and external collaborations and partnership, becoming a household name in the nation,despite the challenges it faced in recent times.  He stated that the NUC was proud of Bingham University. He advised the new Vice-Chancellor and the management not to relent in the discharge of their responsibilities. 

 

He acknowledged and appreciated the Proprietor of the university, ECWA for their contribution to national development in the area of education; in provision of quality health care,agriculture and in financial sector amongst other areas.

The Executive Secretary assured the Vice-Chancellor of his willingness to provide the needed support for the university where necessary in order to move the university to even greater heights.  

 

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Andrew Haruna who joined the Vice-Chancellor to the visit was appreciative of the warm reception accorded to the team. Prof. Haruna stated that the kind words spoken by the Executive Secretary about the University will spur the management to do more.  He expressed optimism that the university will do well having appointed a thoroughbred Professor.  He thanked the last administration led by Prof. Qurix for doing a good job .

The  Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayuba stated that he and management team of the university were in the NUC to appreciate the role the Commission was playing in the university and to formally inform the Executive Secretary of his appointment as the  new Vice- Chancellor of Bingham University. Prof. Ayuba stated that he has had over 30 years of working experience in the university system and knows the role that NUC plays in universities governance and is willing to use the policy instrument of NUC to run the university.  He stated that with the successes recorded in the university he and management team were going to consolidate on the gains recorded by his predecessor, Prof. Qurix in order to move the university forward. He called on NUC to continue to give needed support as  a regulatory body in order for him to succeed.

 The Vice-Chancellor further stated that he is committed to providing quality education, joint research and collaborations, value addition and ease of doing business amongst others.

 

The Executive Secretary was joined by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Dr Noel Salihu,Directors and other top ranking officers of the NUC while the Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dul Johnson, University Librarian, Assoc.Prof Dan Ajibili, Director of Academic Planning, Prof Jerome Ihuma and Director of Public Affairs, Mr.Daburi Misal.
