The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba and Management team paid  a courtesy visit to  the Director of Department of State Services, M. M. Yankari, in Lafia the state capital  of Nasarawa State recently to appreciate the effort the DSS was making in providing security services to the University community and environs.

 The Vice-Chancellor,  Prof. Ayuba who intimated  the State Director ,DSS, that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the role the DSS was playing in providing security to Nasarawa State and  particularly, Bingham University community .

While apologizing for the delay to visit the DSS Director since assumption of duty, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the university will continue to rely and partner with State the State security architecture especially DSS to ensure that the University operates at optimal  level. He emphasized that the importance of security in the area cannot be over-emphasized and will seek the cooperation of DSS  for a continuous peaceful co-existence in the University's host community .

In her remark, the Registrar, of the University, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther J. Dyaji  equally thanked Director for his cooperation at all times.

The Director of DSS Nasarawa State, M. M. Yankari,  who was visibly elated with the visit, stated that it is in the interest of the nation and institutions of higher learning like Bingham University for security agencies particularly the security service to ensure that communities and Nigeria at large is striving in peace. He stated that security challenges have become a thing of concern to all Nigerians and DSS and other stakeholders must ensure that security related issues were handled promptly .

The Director DSS stated that his team was working assiduously to ensure that Karu Local Government Area, particularly the University community was safe for learning which will lead to national development.

He further stated that ECWA and Bingham University have a  reputation of providing quality education.  He encouraged the university to continue to work with relevant stakeholders particularly the host community for sustainable peace and development.  

He assured the Vice-Chancellor and his management team of his continual support and collaboration with the University for peace and security in the area and requested the management of the university not to hesitate to call for assistance when the need arises.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ayuba commended the Director of DSS, M. M. Yankari for excellent demonstration of high level commitment to duty and was encouraged by counsel accorded his management team.

The courtesy visit which was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba had Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther J. Dyaji, Bursar, Mr. Paul Y. Yusuf, University Librarian, Assoc. Prof. Dan Ajibili, Director Public Affairs; Mr. Daburi B. Misal amongst others in attendance.

The highpoint of the visit  was the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
