Bingham University has taken the top position at the 2025 Universities Tax Quiz Contest held during the Tax Week, hosted at the Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja.

The Dean, Faculty of Administration, Prof. Orbunde B. Bemshima, presented the winning team,  400-level students of the Department of Accounting, Ms Oluwatayo Esther Adedoyin and Ms Ndukwe Joy Azu to the Vice-Chancellor following their outstanding performance at the quiz competition organized by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor,  Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, congratulated the students and acknowledged the role of faculty leadership in nurturing academic excellence. He expressed appreciation to the Dean for providing what he described as meaningful mentorship that continues to reflect in student achievements within and outside the University. He also praised the Staff Adviser, Mrs. Akadi Joan Unekwu, noting her consistent contribution to student success, including previous competitions where Bingham students have excelled.

Addressing the champions, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged them to remain focused and committed to their academic and personal development. “You have shown that you can stand shoulder to shoulder with students from other universities and emerge overall winners,” he said. “Your skills and talents will open doors, but it is character that will sustain you. That foundation is important so that your achievements remain a blessing and not a distraction.”

He encouraged them to sustain the relationship with their Staff Adviser, adding that her distinguished academic journey, being one of the first to graduate with a first-class from the department offers a model worth following even beyond their university years.
